We've divided surfing performance into straightforward categories to help you identify your current skill level. Getting a second opinion from a friend who’s watched you surf can be helpful. Once you've determined your level, you can book a lesson that matches your experience and abilities.
If you're just starting out, riding an 8ft or longer board, and catching mostly whitewater waves, our Level 1 Beginner Lessons at Sunshine Coast Elite Surf Coaching are tailored for you.

Once you’re consistently catching waves and confidently popping up to your feet, it's time to advance to our Level 2 Advanced Beginner sessions.

Paddling Past the Broken Waves in Appropriate Conditions
Popping Up on Unbroken Waves
Turning the Board Left and Right
Angling Your Take Off
Correct Trim Position
Basic Surf Fitness
At Level 3, you likely have your own equipment or are close to getting it. You’ll feel confident surfing both left and right in head-high waves.

By Level 4, you’ve likely settled on a board or two that suits your style, whether it’s a longboard, shortboard, or mini-mal. You feel confident paddling through overhead surf and have the fundamental surf maneuvers well-practiced. Our Advanced lessons focus on small groups or 1:1 sessions aimed at enhancing your speed, power, and flow.
